About OK friends

The OK Offenene Kulturhaus Upper Austria is an experimental laboratory for exporting art in Linz. It is intended to be an exhibition and production house for contemporary art, accompanying the implementation of an artistic work from the idea to the exhibition. Nearly 30 years ago it had been founded by the goverment of Upper Austria and is today recognized far beyond the national borders.

In this way, both a public platform and a laboratory situation are provided simultaneously for artists, usually from a younger generation, working in an international context. Concomitant symposia, mediation work, and live acts form networks with art-projects and recipients. This approach requires intensive descussion, dialogue, confrontation and personal commitment.

With the establishement of OK | Friends, we create an opportunity for the art loving public to actively participate in our program and support through membership our art projects. The aim of OK | Friends is to ensure the acceptance of artistic work in the OK on a broad basis and emphasize their value to our society.
