The artist, who only came
to live in Israel a few years ago, investigates the social sub-formation
of Russian immigrants. She photographs her Russian friends and acquaintances
wearing toy masks of pigs' snouts. In this way, she addresses the (self-chosen)
outsider status of Russian Jews in Israel, which is manifested, for example,
in the insistence on the consumption of pork with reference to Russian
tradition. |
