Life Radio Eisbox Ice Stock Lanes, OK Art Forest
a Winter World Above the Roofs of Linz

November 27 2010 - January 23 2011

OK "Offenes Kulturhaus", Life Radio and a string of partners turn the rooftop landscape of Linz into a place of enchantment. The Life Radio "eisbox", the urban ice-skating rink, wanders from the OK Square up to the roof of the City Parking Garage. Expanded with two ice stock lanes and embedded in the OK | Art Forest, it becomes an amazing winter wonderland for young and old.

Five hundred spruce trees above the roofs of the city, transported and set up by the Upper Austrian Rural Youth Association, form the backdrop for a fascinating winter enchantment. The ice skating rink with skate rentals and two lanes for ice stock sport offers an opportunity for sporting activity, and and a bar, operated by Arkadenhof, provides refreshment in between.

Upper Austrian artists are responsible for an Art Forest that creates an enchanting atmosphere high above the hustle and bustle of the streets.
The Linz sound artist Wolfgang "Fadi" Dorninger creates a world of sound here with real sounds from nature, far from the noise of the city. Wolves howl in the distance, bells ring, the wind blows gently across the parking garage roof. Katharina Lackner surprises forest visitors with tree islands that shake when approached, and Claudia Czimek makes a ballet of white leather gloves dance peacefully and rhythmically on the edge of the Life Radio "eisbox". Overall production and light: OK, Hans Kropshofer, Rainer Jessl.
